Is it possible to deliver an 800mm² Power Cable made of copper conductor, 115KV, 800 meter long and weighting 13.6 tons? Yes, it is! We have made it!
By Juan M. Bueno Ros / Inteligencia de Mercados / CMSA

Last May 4, we sent out first trailer convoy transporting the first shipping of 115 kV power cables, to be used in the Underground Transmission Line related to the Generating Plant Laguna II of CFE, located in the Comarca Lagunera, which starts operations in middle of 2005.

In this way, we materialize the efforts made by our team of experts who, with their capacity and leadership, and supported by processes and state-of-the-art equipment, like the vertical vulcanization line installed in the tower (symbol of Conductores Monterrey), successfully manufactured a cable with these characteristics, for the first time in Mexico.

In order to transport this product to the installation site, the Logistic and Transportation team of Conductores Monterrey hired the services of low-boy platforms (low-boy), to meet the required dimensions already established in the traffic regulations, both municipal and federal. On the day of departure, they formed a 6 trailer convoy, each with a transportation capacity of two reels. Due to the size of the convoy, and to avoid affecting the daily traffic on avenues that take us to the federal roads, they were assisted by two traffic patrols of the Municipality of San Nicolás de los Garza, helping the convoy to go from the Plant and through the different avenues. Once the convoy was in the northeast road it continued with no problem to the city of Saltillo, and to its final destination.

We would like to congratulate all the participants of this great project. Once more, Conductores Monterrey, reassures and demonstrates with facts that it is the area’s leader, setting a trend to the market’s new developments and needs.
